This policy explains what personal information Elsevier Ltd. collects through elsevierpublications.co.uk, how we use it, and what choices you have. It is written under the laws of the United States.
Who we are
Elsevier Ltd. provides journal publication support services to researchers. For any question about your personal information, email info@elsevierpublications.co.uk.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you submit the enquiry form on this site, we receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your subject area and manuscript stage, if you choose to select them
- Anything you write in the message field
If you contact us by WhatsApp or email instead, we receive whatever you choose to send, including your phone number in the case of WhatsApp.
Manuscripts and research material
If you go on to work with us, you may send us manuscripts, data or unpublished findings. We treat these as confidential. We do not share them with anyone outside the people working on your submission, and we do not use them to train any automated or machine learning system.
Information collected automatically
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. We do not build profiles of visitors. Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
Because this site does not track you across other websites, there is no behavioural tracking for a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal to disable.
How we use your information
- To answer your enquiry and tell you whether we can help
- To provide the publication support services you engage us for
- To keep records of work carried out, and to invoice for it
- To meet our tax, accounting and other legal obligations
We use your email address to reply to you. We do not add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to, and any marketing email we do send carries an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your information
We have never sold personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not disclose it to data brokers, advertisers or list buyers.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to run the business, and only for that purpose:
- Our form delivery provider, which receives enquiry form submissions and forwards them to our inbox.
- Our email provider, which stores our correspondence with you.
- Our web host, which serves this website and keeps the server logs described above.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used here. Your browser requests them from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to message us that way. That conversation is governed by Meta's privacy policy, not this one.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: deleted after 12 months.
- Manuscripts and research material: deleted 12 months after your project closes, or sooner if you ask.
- Project and financial records: kept for 7 years, reflecting standard business record-keeping requirements.
Your choices and rights
Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Give you a copy of it
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it, where we have no continuing legal or business reason to keep it
- Stop sending you email
Email info@elsevierpublications.co.uk and we will respond promptly. We will not treat you differently, or charge you more, for exercising any of these rights.
Some states give residents additional privacy rights. We extend everything above to everyone regardless of where you live, so you do not need to establish residency to use it.
Children's privacy
This service is intended for researchers and academic professionals. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to enquiries and manuscripts is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect what you send us.
If you are outside the United States
We are based in the United States, and information you send us is stored and processed here. Privacy laws in the US may differ from those where you live. If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or another region with its own data protection regime, we will honour the requests listed above regardless, and you may also raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Changes that materially affect existing clients will be communicated directly.
